Ibiza South VS Ibiza North

Ibiza is well-known around the world for its stunning natural scenery and for its boundless party atmosphere. The island has the reputation of being a heaven for electronic music thanks to the extremely high degree of musical selection played in its spectacular nightclubs.
However, it actually has a lot more to offer.
Like the Yin and Yang of ancient Chinese philosophy, the polarities and contrasts that make up the island of Ibiza are a part of the island's enchantment.
Sometimes it can be laborious to decide which zone of the island to choose whether looking to buy a property or simply rent one for a vacation.
If we trace an imaginary line across Ibiza, from west to east, right in the centre, where Santa Gertrudis is located, we would have separated the north and the south of the island, two universes virtually at different ends.
This distinction might be clear to those who are familiar with it, but it may be missed by a novice.
So we'd would like to shed some light on the dualism that this island provides, on the opposing and complimentary energies that envelop us from the moment we step off the plane.

Ibiza South

The southern part of the island of Ibiza is where you'll find the island's most cosmopolitan,, hedonistic, epicurean, cheerful, and even excessive residents and visitors.
With its discos, long, sunny beaches, exclusive beach clubs, and hip restaurants, this area serves as the social epicentre of the island.
Those who head south are looking to be in the thick of things, the heroes of a memorable summer that can be shared on social media, a place where anything goes and FOMO reigns supreme. They'll sleep in late before spending the day at one of the south's many fabulous beach clubs, where they'll be sure to run into everyone who matters and whom they simply cannot miss.
Or, even better,, spending the day on a luxurious yacht anchored near the beautiful beaches of Illetas (in the nearby island of Formentera), for a “tuffo” in one of the world's most beautiful seas.
Then it's back to the villa to unwind, perhaps with an invigorating massage, and prepare for the night and all it has to offer: the best international restaurants, such as Down Town Cipriani, Zuma, and Nobu, to name a few, where you have to book well in advance to be able to hope for a table and devote yourself to people-watching while savouring international specialties.
and then onto the craziest parties in the world, which can be held anywhere from a famous nightclub to the estate of a billionaire, and go until the crack of morning.
And then it all starts again the next day.
This is the south, where pleasure is assured and show-offs reign supreme.

The most popular locations in the south to rent or purchase a villa include, for example, the Cap Martinet area, a peaceful neighbourhood that has become one of the most affluent and attractive residential locality on the island due to its closeness to the tourist ports of Marina de Ibiza and Marina Botafoch and thanks to its great views of the ancient harbour and the cathedral of Ibiza old Town.
On these hills overlooking the sea, some of the most spectacular houses and prestigious flats created by notable architects can be found. As for beaches, there is plenty of choice here. The more quiet S'Estanyol has a beautiful restaurant named Cala Bonita, while Talamanca's famed beach is ideal for children and families, thanks to its many seafood restaurants and pizzerias. Cap Martine has become one of the ideal locations to reside thanks to its convenient location and peaceful atmosphere near all the great nightlife spots.

The development of Roca Llisa, located between Cap Martinet and the village of Jesus, is ideal for people seeking seclusion and peace. With 24-hour security, Roca Llisa is home to Ibiza's golf course and has become increasingly prestigious and exclusive in recent years, with exquisite houses overlooking the sea and only a short distance from Ibiza town.

Also located in the south, the natural park of Ses Salines is notable for its historic salt pans, where salt is still harvested, and the exceptional beauty of Salinas and Es Cavallet beaches.
Where the famous beach clubs of Beso Beach, El Chiringuito, and Sa Trincha have made their way into Ibiza folklore and are must-visits due to their turquoise seas and charming tendy restaurants. So that you don't miss a thing, here is the place to be if you enjoy being near the sea and also near the hottest clubs, including Dc 10 and Hi.

The southwest of the island, and in particular the Porroig peninsula, where the first luxury houses were erected in the ‘70s, has historically been considered as the most desirable sector for real estate. Still today, the coastal strip from Sa Caleta to Es Cubells, including Cala Jondal, Porroig, Es Torrent, and Vista Alegre, is assumed to have the highest concentration of luxury homes on the entire island, owing to the beautiful scenery, the lack of crowds, and the convenience of being close to both the airport and a variety of exciting attractions. The iconic beach clubs of Jondal and Blue Marlin, as well as the ancient beachfront restaurants Es Xarcu, Es Torrent, and Es Boldado, are all located here.
Hence, South Ibiza provides the excitement and fervour for which the island is known, including its famous beaches and vibrant nightlife of clubs and parties.

Although those who choose the south typically look for a modern seaside house, charming fincas, in the Mediterranean style, can be also found in the interior regions of the south of the island, among the verdant hills, perfect for unwinding.

Ibiza North

Peace, quiet, relaxation, warmth, and genuine Ibiza spirit can all be found in the island's northern region.
High cliffs here drop out into the turquoise sea, and in the little coves below you'll find exquisite seafood restaurants. The traditional villages, with their traditional markets and festivities, make us relive authentic Mediterranean culture.
It is the Ibiza of yesterday that survives away from the hustle and bustle of the south.

On this side of the island, the typical day begins with a meditation or Kundalini yoga session, followed by early morning grocery shopping at one of the many organic stores that offer the fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers. Cala d'en Serra, Cala Xuclar, and Por des Leo are just a few of the beautiful coves that can be reached easily from here, and each one features clear, shallow water and a charming ‘chiringuito’. Fabulous beaches abound also here, including Aguas Blancas, Cala Nova, and Benirras; from here, you can paddle board down the coast and discover some incredible spots of stunning natural beauty.
In the evening, it is possible to choose from a variety of romantic, country-style restaurants, such as Cana Pepeta, La Paloma, and Los Enamorados, serving delectable cuisine prepared by skilled chefs who know how to blend the flavours of the island's soil with those of neighbouring Mediterranean regions.
There is no shortage of parties and music here, either, but everything happens more discreetly in the spectacular private properties of those who have chosen the quiet and intimacy of the North.

The region of San Lorenzo, a little hamlet with a lovely church, in the heart of rural Ibiza, where one can still enjoy the true life and beauty of the Mediterranean countryside, is one of the most desirable locations in northern Ibiza for people wishing to purchase or rent a house. You can reach the more well-known town of Santa Gertrudis, known for its array of fine dining restaurants and one-of-a-kind boutiques, in only a few minutes from San Lorenzo.

The region around Portinatx has become quite requested since last year, when the 5-star hotel Six Senses opened there. The hotel is well-known for its eco-friendly approach and for hosting holistic events with international teachers and gurus.
Also here, the coast provides paradisiacal seaside access, and the typical San Juan village is within easy driving distance.

Always to the north, but more to the west side, and thus closer to the city of Ibiza and the airport, we find the village of San Miguel, with its little harbour and seafood restaurants.
Na Xamena's nearby cliff is the perfect location for those looking for a seafront property with a spectacular sunset view. Here incredible villas blend modern design elements with traditional Mediterranean architecture, blending perfectly into the scenic landscape.

Ibiza, a little island in the Mediterranean Sea, has everything and the antithesis of everything, making it the perfect place to be ourselves and finally feel at home.
